Wow! Great game for bird lovers
Played this game with friends and just loved the mechanics, the look and feel and the bird feeder dice tower. Amazing game!
Rules of Wingspan
- Setup: Give each player a habitat mat, 8 action cubes, 5 bird cards, 5 food tokens (one of each type) and 2 bonus cards — keep 1 bonus card, and for each bird card you keep, discard 1 food.
- Place the birdfeeder dice tower, egg supply, bird tray and deck in reach, and set the round-goal board with random goals for the four rounds.
- On your turn, place one action cube on the leftmost empty space of a habitat row and take that action: play a bird card, gain food (forest), lay eggs (grassland) or draw bird cards (wetland).
- Later spaces in each row grant more of the resource, and after taking the action you may activate the brown powers of birds in that row, moving right to left.
- To play a bird, pay its food cost (plus eggs in later columns) and place it in a matching habitat — each new bird extends the chain of powers in that row.
- Rounds shrink as the game goes on: you have 8 cubes in round 1, then 7, 6 and 5, so turns become tighter each round.
- At the end of each round, score the round's public goal, then discard the used cubes and remove one cube for the next round.
- After four rounds, total points from bird cards, bonus cards, round goals, eggs on birds, cached food and tucked cards — the highest score wins.
