T.I.M.E Stories: Expedition Endurance sends 2–4 agents to Antarctica in 1914 to investigate a supernatural mystery aboard the ill-fated Endurance. This cooperative, story-driven expansion for the T.I.M.E Stories base game plays in roughly 90–180 minutes at a medium complexity and suits ages 12 and up.

About the Game

It is 1914, and something has gone terribly wrong aboard the Endurance in the frozen reaches of Antarctica. As agents of the T.I.M.E Agency, you travel back to investigate what befell the crew — not to rescue them, but to stop the ship's supernatural disturbances from unravelling the natural order. Expect a cold, eerie and tightly scripted mystery.

Expedition Endurance suits 2–4 players, runs for roughly 90–180 minutes across two to three timed runs, sits at a medium complexity and is recommended for ages 12 and up. Cooperative play blends storytelling, dice-driven skill tests and scenario exploration.

This is an expansion and requires the T.I.M.E Stories base game to play. It was the first scenario written after the original four, with Space Cowboys smoothing out pacing and clarity in response to player feedback. Loosely inspired by the real 1914 Antarctic expedition of the Endurance, it mixes historical flavour with creative, chilling fiction.

History

Published by Space Cowboys, Expedition Endurance was the first T.I.M.E Stories scenario written after the original four, and it gave the designers an early chance to respond to player feedback with smoother pacing and clearer cards. The story is based, albeit loosely, on a real event from around the time of the First World War: the 1914 Antarctic voyage of the Endurance, though it takes generous creative licence with the historical record.

Watch: How to play

Rules of Time Stories - Expedition: Endurance

  • Requires the base game: This is an expansion scenario, so you need the T.I.M.E Stories base set for the board, dice and tokens before playing.
  • Setup: Gather 2–4 players, read the scenario's opening card aloud, then each player chooses a receptacle — a host body from 1914 with its own stats and abilities.
  • Objective: Work together to investigate the supernatural disturbances aboard the Endurance and stop them before your time runs out. You are not there to save the crew.
  • Turn flow: Spend Temporal Units (TU) to move between locations on the ship and flip location cards to reveal story, items and challenges as a group.
  • Skill tests: Many obstacles require dice rolls against a receptacle's characteristics; successes remove shields from the test to overcome it.
  • Time pressure: Actions cost TU. When the TU track empties, the run ends — but you keep your knowledge and restart the mission.
  • Game end: Expect two to three runs of roughly 90–180 minutes total; you win by completing the scenario's final objective before giving up, with your performance rated at the end.

Strategy

  • Split attention, not the group: You act as a team, so discuss which location to visit before spending Temporal Units rather than wandering aimlessly.
  • Match receptacles to tasks: Note each host's strengths early and steer the right character toward the tests that suit their characteristics.
  • Take notes: Codes, names and hints from earlier cards often matter later — jotting them down saves costly backtracking.
  • Spend TU carefully: Every move and test costs time, so avoid re-checking locations you have already cleared unless you have a reason.
  • Use failed runs as intel: Running out of time is part of the design; treat a failed run as a scouting trip that maps a faster path for the next attempt.
  • Coordinate dice tests: Pool the receptacles best suited to a challenge instead of letting one weak character burn TU on repeated failures.
  • Read everything aloud: Story cards hide clues in flavour text, so share details with the whole table before deciding what to do next.

Carrying on the clever mechanics of the T.I.M.E Stories game, this expansion takes to you the Antarctic in 1914, and to Shackleton's Endurance Expedition. With a sinister and somewhat creepy theme, the feel of this expansion was close to the original Asylum episode. We found this a little easier and managed to finish on our second run, but there was definitely some dumb luck involved in that. With parts of the game we haven't yet explored, we will probably play this again in a few months to see the other options. The atmosphere created is great, with a real sense of something eerie hanging over the game.

Livraison rapide bravo !! Mais j’ai retourné le colis parce que le produit était dans une langue (anglais) alors que je le voulais en français. Cela aurait été délicat à offrir. Dommage que ce ne soit pas indiqué lors de l’achat ou bien faire très attention...

Unexpectedly became one of my favorites. There was a cool mechanic that I wish was used more, but I liked this one.
