Embark on a Cross-Country Railway Adventure

With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in under 15 minutes. Designed by Alan R. Moon and published by Days of Wonder, this beloved modern classic is ideal for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up. In each 30 to 60 minute session, players collect various types of train car cards to claim historic railway routes across North America. Combining card drafting and route building mechanics, it offers a perfect balance of accessible strategy and light tension.

How to Play

The rules of Ticket to Ride are simple enough to be written on a train ticket. On each turn, you choose one of three actions:

  • Draw more train car cards to build your hand
  • Claim an open route on the board by playing matching sets of coloured cards
  • Draw additional Destination Tickets to secure high-reward connection goals

Points are earned by claiming routes, with longer routes yielding higher scores. Players also compete to fulfill Destination Tickets by connecting specific distant cities, while striving to claim the bonus points awarded for building the longest continuous route. The strategic tension arises from balancing the desire to accumulate more cards in your hand against the risk of losing a critical connection to an opponent.

High-Quality Components and Classic History

Since its release, Ticket to Ride has won numerous awards and inspired a popular franchise of sequels and expansions. The game is highly praised for its premium production values, featuring a beautifully illustrated oversized map of North America, 225 custom-moulded train cars, 144 detailed cards, and wooden scoring markers. It remains one of the most accessible and engaging family strategy games in the world.
