Good for family game night
Good game for older kids 8+, gameplay is fairly simple but need to be able to read the action rules on their own. I wouldn’t say it’s one for grown ups but fun to play as a family and the cards are cute/funny.
Rules of Happy Little Dinosaurs Base Game
- Setup: Give each player a dinosaur player board and its matching meeple, shuffle the card decks, and deal everyone a starting hand of cards.
- Each round, reveal the top Disaster card — it will be Natural, Predatory, or Emotional.
- All players simultaneously choose and reveal a Point card from their hand, worth 0 to 9 points, to score and try to dodge the disaster.
- Advance your meeple along your Escape Route based on your play, and resolve who collects the revealed Disaster card — the unlucky dinosaur takes it into their disaster area.
- Instant cards can be played to swing a round in your favour or rescue your dinosaur from looming doom.
- You are eliminated if you collect three Disaster cards of the same type, or three Disaster cards all of different types.
- Winning: Be the first dinosaur to reach 50 points on your Escape Route, or simply be the last dinosaur still standing.
- Games run about 30–45 minutes with 2–4 players aged 8 and up.
