A Folded Space organiser insert for Mysterium and its Hidden Signs and Secrets & Lies expansions. About the Game

Keep every séance running smoothly with the Folded Space insert for Mysterium. Designed to hold the base game plus the Hidden Signs and Secrets & Lies expansions—with room for promo cards and sleeved cards—this organiser turns a box of loose components into a tidy, table-ready toolkit. Mysterium itself is a cooperative deduction game for 2–7 players, aged 10+, that plays in around 40–45 minutes with light rules: one player is a ghost sending abstract vision cards while the mediums interpret the clues. Many of the insert's trays can be used during play, speeding set-up and pack-down, while the rules and boards sit on top as a lid. Mysterium was designed by Oleksandr Nevskiy and Oleg Sidorenko and published by Libellud in 2015. Folded Space specialises in lightweight board-game inserts, and this one keeps the ghost's manor in perfect order between sessions.

Watch: How to play

Rules of Folded Space Game Inserts - Mysterium

  • Setup: Choose one player to be the ghost; the rest are mediums. Lay out rows of character, location and object cards on the board, and give each medium an intuition token and clairvoyancy tokens.
  • Behind the screen, the ghost secretly assigns each medium a specific character, location and object they must identify.
  • The game lasts up to seven rounds. Each round the ghost draws a hand of abstract vision cards and gives every medium one or more cards hinting at their current target.
  • Mediums discuss the visions openly, then place their intuition token on the card they believe the ghost means — first their character, then their location, then their object.
  • Other mediums may spend clairvoyancy tokens to vote on whether a guess is correct, earning clairvoyancy points for accurate votes.
  • The ghost reveals which guesses were right; correct mediums advance to the next stage, while the others retry in later rounds. The ghost can discard and redraw vision cards a limited number of times when stuck.
  • Game end: After the final round, the ghost sends one last three-card vision pointing to one completed set. Mediums vote on which set it indicates — higher clairvoyancy lets a medium see more of the vision before voting.
  • If the majority votes correctly, everyone wins together; otherwise the whole table loses.
  • The Folded Space insert's trays can be used during play to speed setup and pack-down, and hold the base game plus the Hidden Signs and Secrets & Lies expansions.

Strategy

  • Ghosts: Prefer vision cards with one clear shared element — a colour, shape or mood — over cards with several possible connections to the target.
  • Ghosts: Check the other cards in the row before committing; a clue that fits two options risks sending your medium astray.
  • Ghosts: Watch which details mediums fixate on and tailor later visions to steer them, and don't hesitate to use a discard-and-redraw when your hand can't help someone.
  • Mediums: Talk through every interpretation before placing your token — another player's reading of a vision is often the key insight.
  • Mediums: Mentally eliminate cards you're confident are wrong so later rounds narrow down faster.
  • Spend clairvoyancy tokens on guesses you feel sure about; a high clairvoyancy level lets you see more of the final vision, which matters when the game is decided.
  • Falling a stage behind isn't fatal — the ghost can give extra vision cards to help a struggling medium catch up, so flag early if you're lost.
  • There's no guaranteed formula with abstract clues: flexible thinking and honest table talk beat rigid logic.

This worked perfectly for my fully sleeved Mysterium & 2 expansions game. All components fit neatly into the original box. They are snug so it could be stored on its side without making a mess of the components as well. Assembly was relatively easy - Folded space includes instructions and a good guide on their website. Lightweight but sturdy, excellent board game insert. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an insert for Mysterium to fit all sleeved cards & components in one box.

Not good, wouldn't stay together even with glue

Amy

Not good organizer. Instructions say Need glue to keep them together but even the glue does not keep them together. I wasted my money getting this. Not happy.
